Naturemind-ED offers an immersive experience in community-based biodiversity conservation. Participants engage in academic-level naturalist explorations, gaining practical skills in research design, ecosystem restoration, data collection, statistical analyses, and scientific reporting.

The program emphasizes community engagement and facilitation strategies, allowing interns to contribute to conservation efforts while experiencing local culture.

Working with a diverse team of academics, project leaders, community representatives, scientists, and educators, participants learn to contextualize ecosystem restoration within a broader social-ecological framework, gaining insights into resilience building and sustainability in a real-world context.

Internship Structure & Itinerary

Weekly Activities & Schedule

Participants will engage in a variety of activities, including fieldwork, data analysis, community engagement, and workshops. The program is structured to provide a balance between hands-on experience and theoretical learning.

Types of Projects and Fieldwork

Work closely with local communities, understanding their relationship with the environment and contributing to meaningful conservation efforts.

Role Expectations

The specific research questions, protocols and type of data to be collected as well as the structure of your report will be discussed online prior to your arrival (Pre-arrival zoom chat) and finalized in person during your first week of internship based on the research projects the NMED team is implementing. Your project will be co-designed with the program director and research project manager who will meet with you every week for catch up and you will be guided by our research coordinators throughout your internship.

Pricing & Logistics

PRICE

Shared accommodation

  • 17,000 THB per week (for 2 weeks)
  • 16,000 THB per week (for 3-4 weeks)
  • 15,000 THB per week (over 4 weeks)

Private accommodation

  • 600 THB per night (King size bed at dormitory)
  • 1,000 THB per night (bungalow at Spirit Mountain)
