Focus
regenerative living and sustainable practices
ReGen is our newest program, focused on regenerative living and practices that rebuild the relationship between people and the ecosystems they depend on.
Rather than only addressing the impacts of modern consumption, ReGen explores how we can design food systems, homes, and communities that work with nature and reduce or prevent waste at its source.
The program emphasizes food security, soil health, ecological design, and community resilience. Through hands-on learning in permaculture, regenerative farming, and earth-based building, ReGen develops practical, place-based models of sustainable living that can be shared, adapted, and scaled in other contexts.
ReGen
Currently active Projects
Composting & Soil Regeneration
Running a communal composting site at Spirit Mountain while teaching households how to build and manage their own compost piles. This project focuses on turning organic waste into fertile soil, reducing open-air burning, and promoting healthier food systems through better soil management.
Biogas Project
Piloting small-scale biogas units that transform organic waste into renewable cooking fuel and fertilizer byproducts, offering sustainable alternatives to burning waste or using fossil-based fuels.
Worm Farming & Vermicompost
Developing small-scale vermiculture systems that use worms to recycle organic scraps into nutrient-rich compost. Unlike standard composting, which relies on microbial breakdown, vermicompost produces finer, more concentrated soil amendments that boost plant growth and soil health.
Earth Building & Natural Structures
Exploring traditional and low-impact construction methods using clay, bamboo, stone, and wood. These projects create functional spaces for community use while reducing reliance on high-emission building materials.
Regenerative Living Workshops
Hosting training sessions on permaculture design, companion planting, agroforestry, and ecological gardening, alongside hands-on demonstrations in composting, worm farming, and earth building. These workshops give participants practical tools to apply regenerative practices at home or in their communities.
Mind-Body Connection
Fostering balance and resilience through practices such as yoga, meditation, sound healing, and silent retreats. These activities help participants reconnect with themselves and the natural world, cultivating mindfulness as a foundation for regenerative living.
Nourishment & Seasonal Living
Promoting healthy, seasonal diets and recipes based on foods that are nutritionally rich, easy to grow, and aligned with local ecology. This project encourages people to rethink their relationship with food, linking personal health to regenerative agriculture and food security.
ReGen
Impact
ReGen works alongside WastEd as part of the Regenerative Living Focus for interns and apprentices, offering a holistic approach to sustainability. While ReGen demonstrates how to live regeneratively through earth-based practices, WastEd addresses the reality of waste already produced through circular economy solutions.
Together, the programs support resilient communities by strengthening food systems, restoring soils, reducing waste, and transforming existing waste streams into useful resources. This integrated approach helps build long-term environmental resilience while empowering people with the skills and knowledge to live in balance with natural systems.
